My D got in, $15k a year. She is delighted! Congrats to others who are accepted, and good luck to those who will definitely get into the right school for them!

@sibural , is that a financial aid package of $40,000, or a scholarship? $40,000 yearly, or total?

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Essays, solid academics
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected:
Accepted - Georgetown, Notre Dame, UMich, Elon, UNC Chapel Hill, Clemson, UMass Amherst, Furman
Deferred - Colorado College - don’t understand this one. looks like tons of good applicants were deferred
Denied - Bowdoin ED - kind of stung, but then again, I am a slacker

According to the website, the largest annual scholarship is the Dickinson and it is $20,000 a year, so it must be a FinAid package.

Well Karlmarx, I am impressed. If you had interviewed, mightn’t they have offered a little more? Only because they would think you were very interested.
My D’s stats, for the curious. Also accepted, with 15k annual scholarship.

SAT: math 760, cr 720, writing, 760 single sitting
SAT 2: Lit, 750; Math 1, 720 single sitting
GPA: UW 3.7
Rigorous course load through high school.
AP: three so far, with scores of 5. Currently taking four other AP.

Minor leadership role.
Violin for 8 years.
A couple of good clubs with lots of commitment.
A couple of good summer courses.
Volunteer work.
A very small internship of about 20 hours.

No idea about recommendations, but assume they were at least okay.

Strength, probably very good essays.
Weakness, very little leadership, no real work experience.
Accepted also at Clark Uni, with a better scholarship. All the others, she has to wait until end of March.

@Lindagaf Congrats to you D and congrats to everyone else.

I didn’t interview simply because the alum in my area couldn’t work around the schedule I had prior to her deadline (I was out of town over the Holidays and she was unavailable when I returned). I demonstrated interest by engaging my admission counselor in several emails and a decently informative 10 minute phone call.

Congrats to all again.

40,000 dollar yearly

It must be need based aid, right? Does Dickinson have a merit scholarship of that size? In which case it is probably for one year, and each year your aid is re-evaluated.

I can’t imagine that it is merit. That would be twice the published maximum. Either way, Congrats!

My D admitted $80k John Dickinson Scholarship (20k per year), plus about 18k first year financial aid.
ACT 32, GPA uw 3.86 w 4.46 IB Program, AP tests (2x5), Sports Team Captain, 9 straight years Carson Scholarship winner, Forensics, Cappys, social action and political involvements in community.

I was admitted with about a $50,000 financial aid package ($42,000 before fed loans) for each year with a GPA of 3.9 (weighted), ACT score of 30, a great interview, and in my opinion good extra circulars.

Hey, I’m also Nigerian! But I’m not an international student. Good luck!

Is anyone planning on going to the Accepted Students day on April 16th?

After being deferred EA D was accepted RD today with really lovely aid! @karlmarx2020 do you have a link to Accpeted Students Day? I cannot locate info on it.

@Kat2013 Congrats to your daughter. I have a link on the right side of my portal page after logging in.
