Still a bit perplexed over no honors invite. Varsity captain, lots of volunteer hours, major state award, 9 APs, valedictorian, and very high SAT. (Then again, I’m surprised at all the high stat kids here who were deferred!)
DD was already accepted to Georgetown, Notre Dame, BC and Villanova honors. Not sure if the merit offered at NU plus the lack of honors invite will be enough to sway her from her other options.
Still waiting on decisions from a few more schools as well.
@CopterMom33 and @halfdust did northeastern request documents through IDOC for you? they’ve been telling me for like a few months now that they will but haven’t yet and i think that’s the problem i’m gonna call tomorrow
ACCEPTED
Honors college with $18,000 merit scholarship
Major: Journalism
SAT: 1470
GPA: 3.5 UW 4.7 W
Scholarship was for leadership & extracurricular achievement, which makes sense considering my mediocre stats.
@TomSrOfBoston I wish it were that convenient. The other schools are not in the area. Every trip costs so much for two plane tickets and hotels etc. Not to mention time out of school. I wish we had another year to get this figured out. It’s our first time down this college search path and last Spring we wasted our time touring schools that had no merit $ because we didn’t know any better.
Excited for my son - accepted into CAMD Music Industry program and Honors Program! Congratulations to all who were accepted.
For those deferred or denied, things will work out. My older son was denied from a host of schools and it was tough. But he was accepted to Notre Dame and is now a sophomore, thriving and loving his experience there! So hang in there …
Son’s stats:
1530 SAT
3.9 UGPA / 3.7 WGPA
Rank 3/52
Small school, but had 5 or 6 AP classes
Good ECs and recommendations
Solid portfolio and statement of purpose showing his passion and accomplishments over a long period in his area of interest
Visited during the summer and spoke to faculty in the program
