Just got deferred from CA
deferred from California
Is there an official facebook group?
@student13138 - Yes, the letter said, “we have decided to offer you the opportunity to defer your application into our Regular Decision applicant pool and be reconsidered at that time.” Such a tough year for lots of wonderful applicants. Anyone out there who is on this thread, take stock that you are more than a letter from an Admission Committee! Warren Buffett was denied @ his #1 Choice (Harvard), ended up going to his 2nd Choice school. At his 2nd choice school he ended up meeting Benjamin Graham the father of value investing… and the rest is history. I know, you will all end up where you are supposed to go.
Thanks- i guess i was rejected then.

@student13138 Someone a couple pages back copied and pasted the letter. It says “defer”. What does yours say?
Found it!
"…application for our Early Action Program. After a careful review of your application and supporting documents, we have decided to offer you the opportunity to defer your application into our Regular Decision applicant pool and be reconsidered at that time, as we are not able to offer you admission at Early Action.
We understand that you may be disappointed by this decision; however, we want to assure you that you remain a viable candidate for admission, and we will continue to consider the fact that you expressed early interest in Northeastern. We welcome any new information that will strengthen your application, so please arrange to have your mid-year grades sent to Northeastern along with any updated standardized testing. Also, if you would like to share any new information with us about recent achievements since you submitted your application this fall, please do so through your Application Status Check.
As an applicant in the Regular Decision pool, you will receive your decision no later than April 1. Please log on to the Application Status Check, which can be found at northeastern.edu/admissions, to determine if we need additional information to continue processing your application and to submit any additional materials for consideration at Regular Decision. For more information about this decision, you may review our FAQ document. "

@pass56 My rejection letter:
Thank you for submitting your Early Action application to Northeastern University. After careful review of your application materials, we are unable to offer you admission to the university.
Admission to Northeastern is highly selective, and with over 30,000 applications received for our Early Action Program, the Admissions Committee had to make difficult decisions given the size and depth of our applicant pool. While I understand you are likely disappointed with this decision, please know that it is a reflection of the level of competition within the applicant pool.

My S18 (CA) was accepted undeclared with a Dean’s Scholarship of $16k/year. No mention of Honors. 1590 SAT, top 5%, 3.95 UW, 4.4ish weighted, lots of APs/Honors, standard ECs, limited leadership. He did some webinars but hasn’t visited. We will now go see the campus. It might not be enough merit $$ to make it worthwhile. Good luck, everyone.
