Michigan sent out an email telling hurricane victims that they could request a deadline exemption for early action. The email said:

“If you are affected by the storm, please submit a request for an Early Action exception through the Common Application by no later than 11:59 pm on Nov. 9. You must detail your specific reason for your delayed submission, along with your application materials. Submit your exception request in the Writing Sections Additional Information upload, or as a brief statement in the Short Answer section.”

The idea for exemption requests isn’t bad, but the way they want you to do it is. I suppose they don’t realize that the writing section of the common app gets locked once you apply to your first college. Either people won’t be able to access the “Additional Information” or “Short Answer” section at all, or they will upload a request and get stuck having to send it to every other college they apply to as well.

Anyone know what to do about this? While I do have power and I can send my commonapp today, much of my town does not, and my teacher recs are going to be sent late.
