I didn’t know Michigan did ED, though they seemed to use EA and ED terminology in that section of article

What does that mean for financial aid? Do you get the full package information before you accept or is ED mainly for full-pay students?

@mom2MTgal When you apply ED you will get your financial aid package at the time of your ED acceptance, assuming you submit all the necessary forms and info on time. If accepted, an ED agreement says you are committing to attend that school, unless the FA package is un-doable. You have about 30 days to either withdraw (because of FA issues) or accept the offer. Therefore, schools need to provide FA info early.

The advice given by most schools is that if you need to compare FA offers and are unsure about committing early, DO NOT apply ED. ED is for students who are sure they want to attend and don’t have to compare FA offers.

We did ED at NYU for younger d because we were going to be full pay and she had attended a summer pre-college program there and loved it.

Thanks @uskoolfish!
