Many forums say that with the EA/ Regular Decision choice, one should apply regular because of increasing one’s GPA in the fall, but I am doing IB and my teachers aren’t going to change my predicted grade anymore…

My grades above average, but not the best, 39 in IB. Should I still apply EA to Chicago and hope that they accept/ defer me or will I have a better chance of applying regular?

The only way you would be harmed by applying early is if you were rejected (not just deferred) early, but you would have been accepted if you had applied in the regular round. I don’t think that’s at all likely to happen, to you or to anyone else. If you are rejected early, it is about 100% certain you would have been rejected in the regular round if you had waited to apply then.

This assumes, of course, that you are able to give enough attention to your EA application to make it your best effort, and also that you have given your recommenders enough lead time so they can give THEIR best efforts, too. If applying early makes you compromise the quality of your essays or recommendations, don’t do it.

I think you should apply EA to Chicago. This school definitely loves IB. I was accepted with a 41 predicted, and I know people getting accepted in the mid- to high-30’s.
