zking… the problem with that is I alphabatized the list a while ago (pasted it into excel and pressed that handy button).

Although it seems most people are disregarding it anyway and adding their names to the top/bottom. :P.

One could still reconstruct the original list, though, by going through the entire thread and listing people in the order they added themselves.

That too. Only thing is, both of our studies would be heavily biased. Since many rejects probably won’t post their decesion, our studies might not be viable.

We should each take an oath: “I solemly swear to post my EA decision upon recieving notification from MIT.”

I would assume that anybody on the roster who doesn’t post a decision got a deferral/rejection.

I solemnly swear to post my EA decision upon recieving notification from MIT.

Copy from my post, b/c solemnly is spelled right.

Hehe, I can’t believe I misspelled solemnly, must have been in a hurry.

Also, one would think that most people who don’t post their decision were deferred, but the human mind is very unpredictable. I personally know of at least one accepted person who didn’t post their decision in last year’s RD roster. As a result, I’d encourage others to post their pledges.

Now, for the correctly spelled swear ;-).

I solemnly swear to post my EA decision upon receiving notification from MIT.

count me in. so what are your real names people?
if you feel it is okay to disclose such info, then please do so. Thanks. If not, its all good :)

I solemnly swear to post my EA decision upon receiving notification from MIT.

by the way, people should write how they felt from a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = very bad 10 = very good) when they write their decision next to their name. keep that in mind, so we can help zking with his analysis :)

OR

We could create the Official EA Decisions Thread for the Class of 2010. How about that? And make it similar to last year’s.

Post your thoughts.

I solemnly swear to post my EA decision upon recieving notification from MIT.

The name’s Jennifer, btw. I hate having the same name as 0.932% of all US females (namestatistics.com).

I definitely think we should start an Official EA Decisions thread as we approach the day of notification. If nothing else, that will make it easier for next year’s applicants to find with a search.

Thanks merudh123, great ideas =).

By the way, my name is Adnan.

Also, I’ll start the decisions thread as the time is rapidly approaching.

Olo:
I didn’t see your previous post, I guess I’d have to recompile the list. No bother, only 5-10 min of work. I’ll just go through the thread once we get the decisions.

Also, I’ll only use those who consent to release their decision–should eliminate some of the bias and wouldn’t be violating anyone’s preferences. (I’ll interpret consent as submission of your pledge.)

I guess…

I solemnly swear to post my EA decision upon recieving notification from MIT.

Guess what my name is.

Woohoo! 100th post!

Definitely start a separate thread, that’s what they did last year.
If you get in, it’s great if you’re very excited, but try not to rub it in so much, because if you read last year’s RD decision roster, some people were pretty crushed/upset. So be gentle.

I see somebody already bumped the Official thread. Let’s try to keep discussion to a minimum in that one, okay? The whole point of starting a new thread was so that people wouldn’t have to skip through 8 pages of discussion to see the actual decisions.

Also, zking, I think you should dig up a nice template for people to copy/paste with their info like I’ve seen on several other boards in the past.

frankthetank314159:

If we go by Jennifer’s site, your name is most likely James :-).

Also, the Decisions thread has been stated.

Sorry about that. The purpose wasn’t to bump the thread, but to comment on starting so early. I deleted the message.

Anyways, good luck. I know this sounds clich

According to Matt McGann’s blog, selection goes through the weekend and decisions are sent out next week. The wait is killing me… this is why I applied early, because waiting 4 months would be torture.

-Vu

For a Southern Californian whose never seen snowfall, the picture on Matt McGann’s blog is scary for me, despite it probaby being just a “light” snow fall.

Great… highs in the low 30’s, and it feels even colder than advertised! It’s 28, but feels like 22!

Since his entry was on Dec 2, one week later is Dec 9 – we might get our decisions even earlier!!!

ACK don’t SAY that!

I think it’s really only the last 2-3 weeks of the wait that are tedious and painful, so (for me at least) applying regular wouldn’t have been worse.

And for the many of us who will be deferred, we’ll have to go through the whole waiting process again. Talk about torture!

yo adnan, add in a category for AIM sn in your EA Decisions thread, so people can talk to each other via AIM.

People posting on the thread should be sensitive to those people (2.7k people) who have had their dreams, etc. crushed by the small envelope.
