EA SAT Scores

Would someone with a 590 in the Math SAT section, which is significantly below the 50 percentile range for BC, even be considered as a competitive applicant for EA, despite what EC’s and essay/recs the individual has going for them?

The big schools like BC/ND which receive tens of thousands of applications regrettably have no choice but to use test scores as filters to narrow down the target list of those they will accept. You would be wise to focus on smaller schools that can take the time to actually read the applications and essays. You should also look into the SAT optional schools. There are some top tier schools now that are SAT optional.

Since BC’s EA process is definitely more competitive, why don’t you just apply RD?

because my midyear report is going to look terrible.

LOL, that sux…there’s still a chance you could get deferred though, they’ll only deny you if they don’t think a grade/score improvement will help your chances.
