What is the earliest I can move into the dorms?

I want to get out of my house asap.

The only way to move in really early is to be a move in assistant. These are a few (usually around 30 per building) selected students who move in early, meet the student leader/RA team, and help out with Welcome week. basically you are motivated student volunteers who help welcome everybody else. historically they used to be 2nda nd 3rd years, but lately freshmen have been allowed too. the presidents of each dorm pick the move in assistants. more on this later.

Oh cool. How early can I move in if I’m an assistant?

How early can I move in if I’m a “regular” student and not an assistant?

Is there a calender of move in info anywhere?

This past year MIAs moved-in about 3 days before the “regular” students. The earliest you can move-in as a “regular” student is the Friday before zero week (I think its the 21st but, you’ll have to double check.)

Yeah MIA move in on Tuesday of zero week, while regular students move in Friday, Sat, and Sun (classes start the following Thursday). So if you’re a move in assistant, you get 4-6 extra days at school.

Meanwhile I move in the beginning of negative one week but thats a differen story.

What dorm are you in?

namaste, do you know if I an do MIA for a building other than the one I’m moving into? and still be able to move-in early?

I got de neve, but I’m not sure which building yet.

I just want to get there asap :)

grark - you can only be a MIA in the building you’re moving into. anyway why would you want to do that? move all your stuff to one dorm, then 4 days later to your real one?

grark, I was sorta an MIA for a different building than my actual one this year. I live in De Neve AB but I was assigned to be an MIA for De Neve CD which is practically different buildings. However, that was b/c AB had MANY MIAs and CD barely had any. In any case, if the event you get reassigned to another building, you’d still get to move into your actual room for the year. They wouldn’t make you move-in to a different building at all. The only reason it’s uncommon for people to be MIAs for other buildings is b/c it makes more sense to meet the people moving into your building that you’d have a higher chance of seeing throughout the school year rather than people across the hill that you probably won’t see very often (at least not by chance.)

Does that make any sense? Or am I starting to ramble nonsense? I blame it on sleep deprivation…

namaste, lol no, I want to move into my room but be MIA for another building

ckings86, ah okay. I wanted to be an MIA for my old dorm since a lot of my friends will live there and some are also going to be MIAs, but I guess it would be good to meet new people in my new dorm :D

hmm i didnt know you could do that. i guess at deneve since its all one building
