I’m too tired right now to check the policies of all 16 of those colleges, but I can tell you that the deadlines for early action programs are usually too early if you plan on taking any SAT in November.

Engineering programs at Canadian universities don’t generally have “early action”. Most of their admission decisions are made in March to April.

As to some on your list (can’t speak to any of your Canadian colleges):

Harvard: has no early program, need three SAT IIs (thus you are going to need that chem or something else)

Princeton: has no early program and need three SAT IIs

MIT: has early action but only US citizens and permanent US residents can apply early action. For any admission you need two SAT IIs, math and a science for engineering.

Gtech: has no early program. Need to apply early, usually by Oct 1, if you want to try to qualify for certain scholarships. Does not use SAT IIs for admission.

Illinois: Has an early action program; usually you must apply by a set date in first half of November (date has changed from year to year) and get all test scores in by same date or within a week or so after (rule has also changed annually). Effectively that means it accepts through the October test date for SAT. It does not use SAT IIs for admission.

Purdue: has no early program; however, its regular admission is rolling admissions (admits as applications are received) and thus advisable to apply earlier rather than later there. Does not use SAT IIs for admisison.

Caltech: need two SAT IIs, math and science for engineering, but its early action program takes test scores only through the October test date.

Cornell: has only “early decision” (if accepted you must attend and you can apply early decision to only one college). Need two SAT IIs for admission. For early decision, accepts through Oct test date for SAT and Nov date for SAT IIs.

UC Berkeley and UCLA: UCs have no early action program. Applications for regular admission must be postmarked by Nov 30 but accepts test scores through December test date. Need two SAT IIs.

Stanford: has single choice early action meaning if you apply early action there you are prohibited from applying early action or early decision elsewhere. Does not require any SAT IIs, but recommends two. Accepts through Oct date for SAT for early action; nevertheless can still send Nov SAT IIs and if they arrive before decision is made they will be considered.

Carnegie Mellon: has only early decision (binding as noted above) but has two early decision application periods. For Early decision 1, you apply by Nov 1 and it accepts test dates through Oct, for Early Decision 2, you apply by Dec 1 and accepts test dates through November. Need two SAT IIs.

you can check on collegeboard.com, most of the info are posted there.

For the schools that I know of:

MASSACHUSETTS Institute of Technology: Early Action. Due November 1st
University of California, BERKELEY: No early action/decision program though the application is due sometime November. If I remember correctly, I think it was the 30th.
STANFORD University: Single Choice Early Action (SCEA). This means that you can ONLY apply to Stanford Early. Due Nov 1st.
CALIFORNIA Institute of Technology: Early Action. Due November 1st.
University of CALIFORNIA, Los Angeles: See UC Berkeley
HARVARD University: No early program though they ENCOURAGE you to send in your app by December 1st. (I suspect that this is a rolling admissions of some sort though they don’t explicitly say it)
CORNELL University: Early decision: Due Nov 1st.

thanks a lot
