There have been so many articles, reports, conversations, etc. about it…that it is truly hard to know whether Ed and Merit schol. awards are “effectively” mutually exclusive or whether the policy shifts from school to school or whether there is no real policy and discretion lies with admission counselors, etc. It seems that most schools will assert that one can apply ED and still be considered for merit schol awards - - -anyone have some insight into this increasingly frustrating process ? Thanks. Best to all. MBJ

If financial aid of any kind is a priority for you, do NOT apply ED…no matter what the college says. The reality is that you will not be able to compare financial aid offers between schools and you will be locked into your ED choice. Yes, you might be considered for merit aid…but then again, you might not.
