Early decision/Gap year between high school and Rice

I’ve been told that, at some schools, students admitted under binding early decision can not take a “gap year” (year off) after high school.

Does anybody know if this is true of Rice?

A.M.

bump…

Does anyone have any experience with this (at Rice)?

Why not just call the school? I, for one, have no idea.

The following quote regarding Eary Decision is on the Rice Admissions FAQ page. “The most important consideration must always be whether the university is your absolute top choice and you are ready to make a commitment to enroll.” On another page it says, that if accepted under ED, you must accept it or WITHDRAW your application.

ED is for committed students. Gap year is not.

I believe the admissions office views a gap year a little bit differently than not being committed - call the admissions office and ask.
