Early Decision Program

is there an interview for this process?? And if there is an interview for EDP, one would know right away that he/she is rejected when they are not notified of the interview schedule…But on the websites, it says that they will be notified of the decision by October…so I am kind of confused…

As I understood the EDP, it is not a good idea. You can only apply to one school until you hear a decision from them, at which point, you are no longer applying early in the timeline to all the other schools (and if you actually don’t hear until October, you’re basically out of the game at any other school). I didn’t do EDP, and I had my first MD/PhD acceptance at the end of October, so there’s really no point to this program as far as I can tell although maybe I’m missing something.

Early decision is a horrible choice unless you have a very serious reason for doing it. Wanting to go to johns Hopkins really really bad is not a good enough reason. It is mostly a good option if, for example, you absolutely cannot leave a given city or something. It is even more competitive than normal admissions, and if you get tenets you are horribly late in the application cycle for normal admission.

There are interviews, and all decisions for Ed are sent out October. Even if you know that you were rejected you physically cannot apply elsewhere until October because your application is “frozen”, I believe.

Why worry about this stuff now? Enjoy your senior year and prepare to do well in your freshman year of college.
