Early Decision

For our S, the guidance counselor is pushing to get everything in by today. S is pretty much done with everything, but just wants this evening to make sure everything is stated the way he wants. Is there any advantage to turning in an application today vs. Oct 30? The deadline is Nov 1 so I can see not waiting until Nov 1 (just in case something happens) but I don’t know if there is an advantage to turning things in earlier than the ED date. Does it create a better impression with the adcoms?

No - this came up in an info session (actually at several schools) and the bulk of the applications come in the last few days before the deadline. Oct 29 or Oct 30 won’t make a difference. Read through the application this evening, load up the essays and submit it.

Get it done sooner than later. One of our kids hit a computer snafu one year…couldn’t submit at the last minute online. I was at the post office paying s fortune for express overnight mail…with a guaranteed next day delivery.

You never know when things will get jammed. We told our kids…at least three days before the deadline…after that ONE snafu.
