Early Results for ELC's?

UCD Admissions:

Given your prior post that Davis will accept all eligible ELC’ers, why doesn’t Davis send out early notifications, or 'likely letter’s or something similar to those ELC kids who send you $60? That way those prospies could leverage cheap air fares, plan a visit to campus, buy a sweatshirt…

Argument makes sense, except that it is UC, not UC Davis, policy that has campuses release admission decisions in March. It’s over their heads, if I’m to believe what I’ve read elsewhere.

actually i got a letter from UCD saying that since I was ELC i was “guaranteed admission to any major of [my] choice for fall 2009”…this came sometime after i found out i was ELC…

But that’s not a legit acceptance. Same for UCI, UCR, and UCM. It’s true for UCSB also.

UC Davis follows UC procedure in that we send out admissions decision during the month of March. Furthermore, it is easier for our process to send out all decisions at the same time so that Financial Aid, scholarships and other information is available upon admission. ELC applicants are guaranteed admission as long as they filed an application to our campus but, won’t receive an official admission notification until around the middle of March along with all other applicants.

umm, perhaps the good folks in Oakland (UCOP) forgot to tell UC Irvine, since they started releasing decisions online yesterday…

It’s going around that some ELCers have gotten acceptances already. Has anybody else heard that?
