Congrats!! Would you mind sharing some of your stats?

nopoison–what do you mean by having less than a month to decide? doesn’t everyone, incl EWs have until May 1 to reply?

I was referring to the April 1st decisions. These extra two weeks are a gift in reducing the stress of waiting for the 1st but I am a strong believer in giving more time to visit the schools after acceptances.
My son feels that it isn’t wise to become emotionally attached to a school before you know you are getting in. Now I am sure that others might have a different take on this and can work with the short time given. There may not be a way for it to work any other way. It just seems that the UK system is kinder in that respect.

nonpoison–I completely agree with you. More time to visit and decide after all decisions are rec’d from the schools would be very helpful. Applicants that don’t officially hear until April 4 or 5 really don’t have all that much time.

My stats were 1270 SAT, 730/700/610 3.8 uw gpa, 46/660 (now it’s 39/589).

i’m sure i posted elsewhere with stats, but here they are anyway:

1550/2350 SATII’s/5 5’s/pretty good EC’s and junk

Cools, I’m just curious…what was your “hook”? What else do you have beyond stats that obviously grabbed their attention?

No letter yet, but an acceptance call (I’m in California, letters will take a little while to get here)

Oh, stats

1360 SAT, 3.875 GPA, 780/740/700 SAT II, 10th/724…

Wow, they called you? That’s actually pretty cool.

i’m hispanic, first generation college, under 20k income and had a heck of a lot of adversity (back surgery 01’ that fused my spine and took about a year to recover… during that year we were homeless and I lived in various houses, been in shelter, father left us, switched schools… stuff like that) Also, I do have pretty decent ECs and taught myself piano when we were homeless (working on Rhapsody in blue at the moment). I have also worked since freshman year at the same office and also at a golf course during summers (so i could get free golf play) - because i play on the high school girls team and we’ve won states and fciacs. Also, the golf thing, i was 3rd on the team and it was only after a year of ever playing golf… Basically, there were a bunch of things put together. (also got the Horatio Alger Scholarship and Williams is partnered with them). Again, I"M SO EXCITED!!!

Cools…What a amazing story. Your ambition and hard work paid off.
Great job :)

thanks :-)

Wow… I am so impressed after reading what you have accomplished given your circumstances. Like I wrote in the other thread, I can’t imagine that any college in the country wouldn’t be salivating over you.

haha im so excited for all ya’ll.

So will anyone be taking Williams up for their offer for sure?

For those who are hesitating for financial reasons (it sounds like speeddemon is), call the admissions office! Williams is very generous with financial aid, but they are even more generous in negotiating for more financial aid. If you didn’t get as much as you think you need, chances are you will be able to explain this to Williams and get more.

haha im not hesitating, but my parents on the other hand…

i think its a go though because just a few weeks ago my mom was talking about how she wants to switch to verizon. my dad was like why would we do that? she said “wellll depending on where he goes up north,” but the only place we talked about in reference to cell phones was williams. so its yet to be an official go from then but i think it will be, im sure they’re still more than interested in taking the option of bartering for more financial aid unless williams holds true in the rumors of surprising people with some really good financial aid packages

I just got an “early writes” letter too and I am absolutely pleasantly suprised!

Woohoo… I’m accepted! Did everyone’s include a pleasant handwritten note at the bottom?

Williams is probabally my #1… sweet! :)

Now if only that (crucial, decision-altering) financial aid info would arrive…

Mine did; it said “Well done, ____(my name)! We would love to have you join the Williams family.” Even though they probably did that for all of them, I am still very complimented. Imagine the hand-cramps. I can empathize with and appreciate that after having AP English.

I got a call this afternoon

Not sure how Williams ranks on my list though.
