Hi guys, I would like to inquire on whether or not there is a backdoor way in to jhu or other top colleges such as duke, Yale, Harvard, brown, Stanford, etc… And any other top college that you can think of. I have been made recently aware of the Harvard extension program, but it seems like a community college in my eyes. What do you all think? Answers? Opinions?
Columbia has their GS Program if you a few years ago, though is still rigirous to get in. One of the few “backdoor methods” unless you count CC transfers to a top state flagship i.e. (UVA, Michigan)

@ccconfid - I did not intend it as an insult. I meant “hijacked” as in your comment wasn’t answering the question. Better to make one post asking your question rather than commenting multiple places it isn’t wholly relevant.
@ccconfid You derailed the thread. That’s known as hijacking, and while there’s more slack for a new user, it’s considered rude.
It sounds a bit like you’re on a hunt for prestige, which you might want to work out.
I’ll answer your question though with what I know. Emory has Oxford college, a two-year campus in Oxford, Georgia which is a bit easier to get into and students get automatic transfer to the main campus. Some people say the course rigor is a bit higher at Oxford than the first two years at the main campus.
Thank you @usualhopeful for your input. @intparent I thought that my question was relevant though because I was discussing admissions into top colleges which was the topic of this thread. I’ve seen people before on talk college confidential with much more random posts which made the whole conversation go off on a tangent but others did not mind and went with the flow. Besides, if I just start my own thread, people won’t respond.
Not necessarily backdoors but more easier ways to get to top schools
@ccconfid, you are being a bit disingenuous. Admissions to top schools is the topic of 90% of the posts on CC. Hijacking with a completely different question is impolite.

This is kind of like asking how to make a lot of money without working. Selective colleges are selective, and to get in you have to offer something that they want. The good news is that selective colleges are not the only game in town and you can get a great education at an LAC or state school.
@snarlatron , I understand what you mean but at the same time I’ve been working hard for the past several years but these colleges still won’t accept you and I know that is sometimes the end result despite all the hard work.

Which are categories from within which some of the most selective colleges in the country can be found, of course.
There are no easy ways to get into top colleges. Many kids work incredibly hard in HS, get straights A’s in rigorous classes, get top test scores, leadership roles etc and are still rejected. I am sure you do not mean to come across this way and I apologize in advance for what I am about to say, but by asking if there is an easy back door way to get into these schools it really is a slap in the face to kids who worked hard to get in.
So be miserable pulling your hair out trying to get into a small handful of a colleges, meanwhile your peers will attend less-selective colleges, leave with a good paying jobs, and move on with their lives.
There are multiple paths to success and happiness. It takes a little more maturity to see that though.
I’m sorry if worded my questions around the term “backdoor”. Are there easier top colleges that I can get to? And for grad schools are there any ivy league and other top colleges that can guarantee you admission based on your performance at the undergraduate level?
Are you a female? If so you can apply to Barnard (the columbia women’s college) which is much easier to get into than columbia. you will still be able to take classes at columbia that way
