Easiest and Hardest Tests in the Blue Book

In the original blue book (1st edition), which test do you think is the easiest? And which test is the hardest?

The 2nd edition comes out today, so I am curious to see if the test that is removed coincides with what students perceive to be easy or difficult.

I don’t think any of them are significantly harder or easier than the others. It is a standardized test, after all.

It would be interesting to know, though, CB’s thought process behind choosing which test to leave out, if there was one.

For some reason, I keep thinking that the last test in the BB is the easiest. Perhaps it’s because the CB wants test takers to think that they have improved throughout the course of taking all the practice tests, because I thought it was a bit easier (I didn’t take the tests in order and therefore the improving from past mistakes concept didn’t apply to me).

I’m very curious about what the differences between the first and second editions are. Ah, I might as well take a look at the new version and decide if that’s where I’m spending some hours of my glorious summer on. :)

I think the 5th is the hardest for math/critical reading. I have no proof besides me getting wrecked on that one.

Xaari, the new book has 10 tests in total–7 of which were from the BB and 3 which are suspected to be from past QAS, though I’m not completely certain of that fact (I have yet to receive my copy of BB2 but I know for certain that 7 of the tests are recycled)

The 3 are recycled QASs. The three are the tests administered:

October 2006
January 2007
May 2007

If you’re thinking of taking them from easiest to hardest, I would advise taking the 3 new tests in reverse order. Looking at their curves, the 1st one is hardest, the 2nd one is slightly easier, and the 3rd one has relatively hard math though it has some of the easiest CR questions you will find.
