That’s likely going to be the one you have the most experience with in high school. Take the placement tests and see if you can’t get exempted from 1-3 semesters (or more). Otherwise any language will be 4 semesters.

I think all language classes meet 4 days a week with daily quizzes and homework turn-ins. My d has had a great experience with Chinese at Michigan - I don’t think the writing is overly challenging - my son’s highschool AP class in Shanghai was tougher! My d has really liked her Mandarin professors - they really want their students to succeed.
