What major would you guys say is the easiest? Least amount of classes? Easiest to get a higher gpa?

Hmm…well, based on my extensive and in depth knowledge of the 89 majors offered…

bio, definitely bio…cornell bio is kind of a joke–that’s how easy it is…

serious response: why would you want to know this?

Do what you actually like doing. It’s plain silly to choose a major just because it’s supposed to be the easiest one… You may have 4 easy years, but you may also end up regretting your choice for the rest of your life.

Considering you have to take 120 credits to graduate, you’re not going to get out of having classes…this is college. A major prepares you for your future, so I don’t think it’s wise to major in something because it’s easy. If you have no genuine interests, then go for it, but have fun trying to find a legitimately easy major at Cornell.

Let me guess, you’re premed or prelaw.

Me? Just not a morning person ;).

Sorry Spanks. I was referring to the OP:)

good luck finding the easy major. My girlfriend’s good friend and roomate here is a painting major … even she’s swamped!!

ECE, AEP, and Architecture

all at the same time you could probably still manage those three. I know a guy whose AEP & Archi double major and he only has class mon, tues and thurs…definitely notoriously easy

my girlfriend is an architecture major, and she’s completely loaded with work and classes. It’s not an easy major.

she must be pretty dumb then…they don’t have to do anything…they have SOOOO much free time. it’s really unfair…

you have a stupid girlfriend. dump her

you’re joking right? you must be, or you’re both as dumb as rocks. Ask any upperclassmen (any) if architecture is an easy major. The answer will always be no. Your friend is just uncommitted. There’s no way to have a fair amount of free time if you’re in architecture. There’s a reason where in the stuido there’s a sign that says “you can sleep when you’re dead.” The studio class alone is 6 credit hours with an expected ‘out of class’ contribution time of 8 or 9 additional hours per week. He must not be taking all of the hours required to graduate in the 5 year program (i believe you have to average around 17-18 credits per semester to graduate on time). Architecture = not easy. The only easy part about it is they dont have to write nearly as many papers or take as many prelims as everybody else does.

well, even if they’re not joking, relationships are bad

It’s called sarcasm.

i dont believe relationships are necessarily bad. There’s not a whole lot of hot girls at Cornell. The fugly are the majority. A girlfriend is a secure way to always score with a hot chick. No need to get drunk before finally deciding if a girl is hot or not. It’s been more of a convinience than a bad thing.

If you’re not a good looking guy, don’t expect to get with good looking girls. It’s sweet that you’re dating a girl just to score, I bet she’d find that romantic if you told her. If you need a relationship for a secure lay, then you must not be too good looking yourself, so watch it before you insult the girls. There’s always something wrong with guys who depend (I mean literally, nothing wrong with being in one if it’s normal, unlike the aforementioned) on relationships at age 18 ;). And, quite honestly, if you were hot you’d find a good looking girl here, that tends to happen. The overall physical quality of both guys and girls is obviously not similar to that of a state school, but if you’re decent looking, you will find someone on your level, like everywhere.

but since this thread totally diverged, what’s up with Cornell parties ending exceptionally early?

Wow, people, I think we’re turning a tad too personal… Perhaps we should revert to the thread topic.

obviously i’m not dating a girl just to score. It is a tremendous plus, but isn’t even close to the top reasons why i’m with my girlfriend. Also, i’m not “hot” just grateful that i was able to get with somebody that is hot!

Back to the thread topic, it seems like there are majors that are considered ‘easy’ for Cornell, though compared to other schools they’re much much harder here. I was talking to one of my senior friends on the cycling team, and he said architecture students are weird at times. One of his best friends was an archi major, and there would be times where he could relax and not do much, but there’d also be times where he would dissapear from the face of the earth for 4 days straight. If you find out the architecture stuio final project due dates, take a walk outside of Rand hall … you’ll definetely find some architecture students turned zombies wandering around with coffee and a cigarette (and i guess Dayquil … all of the jump without the jitters).
