Why don’t you consider some schools that few people have heard of, but that offer a great education. Albion College and Montana Tech are two that come to mind, but there are a ton of small schools that offer everything except a fancy brand name.

I’m not saying that I really NEED a college that has everyone has heard of, but I know my parents aren’t going to want to spend the money to send me to a college that no one has ever heard of.

^ that’s the exact same problem I have! Will be following this thread with interest…

boston university

does boston university have a campus or is it an urban college?

its an urban campus

BU is a big school. Its urban. BC on the other hand is about the size you are looking for and its a lovely campus. Great sports. No frats, but that is typical of Jesuit colleges. They do have lots of fun anyway.

Fordham in New York (particularly the Rose Hill Campus) is the same, essentially.

Furman in Greenville, South Carolina is a fine school, that has great sports and it does have Frats. Davidson is a tad bit of a stretch but worth the try. Richmond would be a good fit, I believe. Sewanee is a great little school near Chattanooga that is highly respected. I believe Teddy Roosevelt went there.

For safety schools I would pick JMU, College of Charleston, South Carolina, Clemson and schools like them.

Again, these are based on stats and not on your personality or personal interests or financial situation.

BU has the student size you are looking for, fraternities and a spread out campus, unlike NYU. Yes it is urban but in a more “campusoid” way surrounded by Charles river on one side and a is a mega college town. If you sorta know what I mean.

Yes, and BU is a lot easier to get into than BC.
Somebofy already mentioned it and I agree that American might be an option, as well.

What types of things do you want to study?

Anyway, you could check out northeastern, and case western. (they aren’t similar at all btw, just two schools I thought of that seem like good matches stat wise, and fit some of your criteria)

Also I second BU if it isn’t too urban and large(neu might be a bit urban and large as well, although they have a lot of green space for a campus in the city, and in most of it it does have a traditional campus feel rather than an urban campus feel, and co-op makes it smaller than the numbers indicate)

Also maybe look at, tulane, emory, vanderbilt, purdue, fordham, wakefoest, syracuse, lafayette, lehigh, ok now I’m just listing decent schools that your dad may have heard of, with no real rhyme or reason besides trying not to list super large ones.

My parents both went to Tulane actually so I’ll probably be checking it out.

On every “what college for you” type quiz i’ve taken Syracuse has been a top 3, so I’ll probably check that out even though it is very far from Florida.

I’ve seen American and I wasn’t crazy about it, too small for me and just wasn’t crazy about the layout.

BU and Northeastern, but I’m sort of worried about the urban campus because I’m looking for more of a pretty green campus.

Not positive about what I’m going to major in; Advertisement, Business, Film(a dream, but not too realistic) or possibly Political Science all interest me.

Thanks for the suggestions, and lots more are welcome!!

Cornell I guess…

Cornell?! In my dreams haha

if you want an awesome party scene, prestige, and a great overall school, definitely check out umich. you definitely have a chance there

Like many others have mentioned, I think your stats would place you at about the level of BU, but probably not BC.

Some other schools worth looking into:

Fordham University
Penn State
UMaryland -College Park
George Washington
University of Connecticut

LACs

Kenyon
Trinity
Occidental (Obama started out there)
Centre College

you clearly only read the topic title and not the actual post…

You’re right about that :)

Some interesting routes to get a prestigious degree.
