East Asian Studies, what schools are good?!?

I want to major in film/television at NYU but I’m also interested in East Asian Studies. I know learning a lot of languages help you career in the future especially in film (well, in all jobs). I’m wondering if I should double major in film and E.A.S or major in film and minor in E.A.S. And I want to know if there any schools out there that have a good E.A.S program as well as a good film program. I know NYU has a E.A.S program but, I don’t know if it’s good. Any advices?!? Any schools?!?

Here’s some threads that discuss East Asian Studies. Some schools that seem to keep coming up are: Berkeley, Harvard, Yale, UMich, Penn, UChicago, Stanford, Cornell, Indiana, Princeton, and Columbia, Oberlin, UCLA, UCSD. Good luck.

Columia University, U of Washington in Seattle.

I doubt that Asian languages will make it more likely that you can land a job in the film industry.

I’d recommend that you take a good look at the West Coast for East Asian studies; East Asians who emigrate to the U.S. tend to settle on the Pacific Rim. L.A is the undisputed center of the film industry. UCLA would be a good choice. Stanford and Berkeley are probably a little better known for East Asian studies; something like 25% of the residents of the Bay Area are Asian American. The alumni of both schools are also pretty well plugged into the film industry in Southern California.

UCLA, USC (both have film and east asian studies)
