My Boys Baking (https://www.myboysbaking.com) had me at Blackforest Biscotti! Ordered some of the packages to include in my own gift baskets- very reasonable shipping. On to the other sites to collect more items. I’m setting the bar high for the family gift basket exchange.
I can attest to quality of blackDinah chocolates. And Burdick. Both would be welcome gifts, IMO. Another thread got me looking at the Costco website, and they are offering a Stonewall kitchen gift basket, so you might find other regional ones there.
Southern Seasons out of Chapel Hill, NC. Beautiful baskets & excellent customer service. Their cheese straws taste like my grandmothers. Delicious chocolates. Also have Moravian Spice cookies. It wouldn’t be Christmas at our house without them. http://www.southernseason.com/ Another family favorite is Deweys Bakery. https://www.deweys.com/ Moravian Sugar Cake, cheese straws, Moravian Spice cookies. Yum.
If you are considering getting something from Harrington, look at Dakin Farm instead. Someone sent us a ham from Harrington last year. I was home when it was delivered, but no one rang the bell. It was left outside the garage, where I didn’t notice it till the next day, and stuck it in the garage on my way to work. The box was not marked perishable. I forgot about it for another day. When I opened it, it was packed with one small gel cooling pack in an uninsulated box. Needless to say, it was not cold when I opened it and I threw it out. I replaced it (it was for my husband) with one from Dakin – a bit less pricey, promptly delivered, properly packed in styrofoam with multiple cooling packs, left at our door, clearly marked. Oh and btw Harrington never bothered to respond when I complained.
That’s useful information @CIEE83. I often wonder if the quality of the delivered gift matches the photo the merchant shows on the web site or catalogue. I used to send gift boxes of navel oranges from a local orchard to friends out east. One year I sent a box to my brother “Mr. Honest” and his family in New York. He called me to let me know how terrible they were, dry and sour. I quizzed my friends and they sheepishly admitted that, yes, the oranges were pretty bad. It’s possible they suffered from poor shipping conditions, but if it weren’t for my brother’s revelation I would still be sending them.
@floridamomof3 I really like that Southern Season website-lots of good things there like the cheese straws and Moravian cookies . Salem Baking Co. has some nice things too.
