What’s it like for an east coast student attending HMC? Do recruiters recruit for East Coast jobs? Do east coasters see their future in California after 4 years there? Any first hand experience with this?

I’ll take a shot, since no one else has. But others can sure chip in. I think recruiters are more focused on West Coast jobs, although there are some hot shot companies recruiting there (SpaceX, Google, etc.). You certainly could find a job on the East Coast after graduation with the skill set you would build at Mudd, but you would have to look on your own a little more. I would not be surprised if my Mudder (from the Midwest) ends up staying on the West Coast. Partly because it is the path of least resistance with recruiters/job hunting, but I also bet she would like to stay near a community of Mudders after graduating. You can certainly get into grad schools all over the country, Mudd is well known in academic circles.

My east coast son graduated two years ago from Mudd. He enjoyed the time. There are recruiters for East Coast jobs. DC had the defense contractors. New York more social media and financial industry. The West Coast recruiters are the path of least resistance because there are more of them. Mudd has great reputation, so the jobs are there. That said, my son stayed on the West Coast. He just thought the jobs were more interesting there.
