As a transfer, I know housing options are limited so I am weighing the pros and cons of the two places I’m considering living in. I could either live in East Quad(through GSP residence college) and I would have a single and 150 block meal plan included for about 9000-10,000 dollars on the year. It’s more expensive, has community bathrooms, but is closer to the diag, central campus and most classes and includes food. My other option is to live in the Northwood Apartments for about 7700-8400 a year(doesnt include food) and is literally a journey and a half away (farther north than Bursley, enough said) from central campus and the diag, but I would have my own bathroom, more space and maybe save a little money. My question is, for anyone who has lived on campus, which would be the better decision, both have pros and cons, but which would you personally choose and why?

east quad, easily

Depends if you like to cook. At least that’d be a question I’d ask myself. If you don’t want to cook or even like it, then it’s worth doing East Quad on the meal plan. But if you do like to cook, then it’s worth doing Northwood. It may be a journey- about 15 minutes… but just ask yourself if it’s worth paying more money for location. The closer you are to the Diag, the more you pay… for less space.

DO NOT TAKE NORTHWOOD if your classes are on central. It is a pain to commute to central campus every day. East Quad, although old, and has inconsistent food quality, has the best location on campus.

East Quad! I live here this year and I LOVE it. It’s an amazing location, the food isn’t THAT bad and the people are great. I know you will hear stories about “RC Kids” and if you haven’t yet, you will, but I am personally not in the RC and still love East Quad. Also, a lot of my friends are in the RC and they aren’t scary or weird at all. It’s totally worth the extra cost to live here. East Quad for sure.
