So I was assigned to a double on the fourth floor of Easton hall with the roommate I requested, and it has air conditioning so I can’t really complain. Now I want to know what is that place like? Is it loud/quiet? Social/antisocial? Party dorm or study dorm? Clean/dirty? Basically anything at all that would be helpful to know. I was assigned here randomly and did not make any housing requests except to request a roommate. Thanks!

Hey, sorry I can’t help you, but I was assigned to a double on the 4th floor at Easton as well!

Easton is located near Byrd Stadium so it’s very convenient for football games. It is also the dorm that houses the engineering students’ living/learning programs (FLEXUS for women/VIRTUS for men).

All these things depend on the other people living on your floor, not on the dorm.

Completely depends on who is on your floor. Easton is definitely going to be louder than some other dorms around campus, but quieter than a place like Elkton that is primarily freshman. Some floors have more upperclassman and if you end up on one of these floors with upperclassman, it will probably be quieter. In general, a lot of people from Elkton are going out every night. It is nice and new though-- very clean and nice. Next to the 24 shop (24 hour shop with food/other little things), next to 251 (all you can eat diner). Very close to cspac (the performing arts center). Cspac has a library and is a great place to study.

I lived in Easton last year as a sophomore so I’ll give you my input. I lived on the third floor and from what I could tell the dorm was 50/50 freshman/sophomores. Your floor and RA will definitely change your personal experience, though. Within a few weeks my floor strongly smelled like weed all the time, for example. I spent a lot of time on the first floor since that’s where all my close friends were and the RA would stop people from smoking / drinking, but no one got in trouble. The only exception was he didn’t care what you did Friday or Saturday night as long as you stayed in your room and the hall got very loud then.

For noise, it was fine if you closed your door and even Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights were fine if you don’t mind headphones and want to get work done in your room. My lounge was loud so when we wanted to do work we would just change floors. There is also a large study lounge in the basement that not many people knew about and you need to swipe in to use.

The one thing I personally didn’t like is how far away it was from my classes as an engineering major (which I found ironic since it houses a lot of engineering majors.) But all together I found it a fine place to live. I had to live in Ellicott freshman year with my program and being next to the diner was nice, but there was no air conditioning. Also, we opened up our air conditioning unit to manually change the temperature. It technically isn’t allowed, but it was a lot better to control the temperature.
