<p>I took DUTCH 171AC: From New Amsterdam to New York: Race, Culture, and Identity in New Netherland, which is about how their civilization ended up influencing today’s New York. It’s in English, and there’s no Dutch involved. The professor is pretty laid back, and there’s no homework except for a 250-300 word paragraph each week on bspace. Lecture is 3 times a week, and there’s no discussion. There’s a midterm and final (written essay), but it’s open reader/open notes. Pretty easy to get a A, you just need to go to lecture to listen, and occasionally read from the reader. </p>
