I’m looking for a campus that’s relatively easy to get admitted to and has a large population of bohemian/hippie/free-minded/friendly students. I’m really an introvert so someplace not too big is ideal.

If you are in California- Cal State Humboldt is perfect for you. And it is in an interesting herbal/agricultural center. Also, checkout Evergreen in Olympia, WA. Look and see if there are any colleges in Marin County, CA, or really, any small colleges in San Francisco. Portland, Oregon might be a good geographic location for you - I don’t know what is near there, though.

Hampshire College in MA?

Humbolt is a great choice if the student doesn’t need any financial aid.

abbyrd…what is your budget? how much will your family pay?

What is your home state?

University of Vermont most def.

If you are a resident of California, the Cal State system is by far the least expensive 4 year college. Rent in Humboldt? You could get you own nice cabin or trailer for 300/month. They may have a trailer/RV/tent area for students. Santa Cruz used to have that but they turned it into a parking lot. I knew some kids that spent a few grand on trailers and lived in them for a few years, then sold them for a profit. Only type of dorm room that can appreciate in value. And if you live with the RV/trailer crowd you will be with very free-minded folk- it’s like Burning Man, but year round.

If you aren’t a CA resident, then the state schools are way more expensive, even if you can live in a tent and save $$ by not having to pay for dorm/apartment. If money is a big factor, you may want to move to Marin/Humboldt/Santa Cruz county, go to community college for 2 years, then transfer to Humboldt or Santa Cruz. Huge Wiccan population in Santa Cruz.

Green Mountain College (VT)

“relatively easy to get admitted to” is one of the OP’s requirements.

i live in pa and looking to stay around the NE, i’m looking for colleges cheaper than 25,000. and ill probably need financial aid.

SAT or ACT scores? GPA? Class Rank?

Cheaper than 25k?

Have you calculated your family’s EFC? Expected Family Contribution?

The Collegeboard website has a good one, use your parents 2010 Tax Returns and yours, keep hitting “save” so you can refer back to the numbers, Choose both “IM” and “FM” for the methodologies. If your parent(S) don’t want you to calculate the EFC, have one of them do it instead…

Are your parents married? Or do you have a divorce situation with step-parent(s) involved? These things count when it comes to financial aid.
