Does anyone know of an easy oral communication class (that a freshman may be able to get into)?

Easy is a relative term. COMM107 is the basic one most people take. Son’s friend took it first semester, had a great teacher and it was a breeze. Son took it second semester, had a teacher that had a very heavy accent, gave a lot of writing work and it was a general PITA (managed an A but HATED the class).

To me, the class that looks more “interesting” is JOUR130 and THET285 has potential for being more fun if you are into performing arts. Both are restricted to new freshman only. Not many seats left in either though so if you have a later orientation, plan an alternate choice.

These two options are not the type of classes where they will add additional sections if the waitlist gets too long. Oral communications classes are designed to be small sections for more individual attention. That’s why there are sooo many sections for COMM107. Also, since these two options I mentioned are only for freshman, the chance for getting a seat off the waitlist is very slim since incoming freshman typically don’t do as many schedule changes the first time around as the rest of the student population.
