<p>Hello CC members, I thank you for taking the time to look at this thread.</p>

<p>This thread is like a chance thread, but it is really a redirection step, to put me on the right track.</p>

<p>Here are my academics:
XX% percentile ssat - Will be taking it in October or November
At least A- in all classes 7th other than two B’s in drama :frowning:
A national poetry contest sub-winner.
Mathematics Award (In GPA of 98.08% and best commitment) (Algebra 1 and Geometry)
Music Theory Award (In best commitment)
Perfect attendance 4 years - 200 days of school, 7 1/2 hours a day!
Summer Program at MIT (calculus) - I am currently enrolled.
Summer Program at BU (robotic and aero-engineering)
In Geography Bee x4 years
I represented the school for the Massachusetts middle school public speaking contest
Fluent in English and Cantonese, understand Taisanese very well. I can speak and understand 50% of conversational Spanish. Still working on it :)</p>

<p>I have the most pride in Mathematics, Geography, and being bi-lingual.</p>

<p>Clubs:
Science club.
I am hoping to join our high school math club, but I think it may be only for high schoolers. </p>

<p>Clubs are very limited at my school esp the middle school, and so is my commute to other places.</p>

<p>Athletics:
I am going to tryout and hopefully make the basketball team for the school.
I will definitely play for a city league in the fall so I can get some experience.
I am going to join the cross country team, now that I fixed my flat feet problem :slight_smile:
I have done 1 year of lacrosse.</p>

<p>Basketball is my true love, hence my name. I have even practiced dribbling for a few hours straight before. </p>

<p>Volunteer:
I have done the walk for hunger 2 years in a row. It is very hard because of my flat feet. 20 miles! </p>

<p>I feel that doing walk for things is the best way to show true commitment for the cause. It’s also great for exercise.
I disagree with all the people who say, I am going to volunteer at a soup kitchen at the last minute.</p>

<p>Music:
Piano for two years. I play by ear more than sheet music now, because I am more passionate about playing by ear. One of my goals in life is to get more than 10,000 subscribers on youtube by playing by ear.
Saxophone - 1 year.
School band - 1 year.</p>

<p>This concludes my academics and other activities for now.
I am willing to accept all opinions, good or bad, and improve.</p>

<p>I am definitely applying for these two schools, but I am uneasy on applying to the third, since I don’t have as much reason to apply to it. I am 100% truthful on my interview, so it would trouble me.</p>

<p>What schools are you applying? Are you international (you speak cantonese/taiwanese)? I can sense pride and confidence in your post… :D</p>

<p>I am not an international student. I also said Taisanese. I am also trying to learn Madarin, because I can get easy practice conversing with my friend or my parents. If I work hard enough, I can probably speak well Mandarin enough to be appraised for on the application.</p>

<p>I really love learning languages because it’s a different way to see a different culture. And not to mention I can then show off. ;)</p>

<p>In my opinion, you seem to be a good candidate, and the fact that you speak several languages gives you a lot of advantages. Unfortunately, I’m not a very credible source since I’m an applicant myself.</p>
