Looking for some schools that might be “likely” for a kid who considered by college advisor to be a 50% chance for an IVY. There seem to be so many great schools that would be perfect academically. However, we want to avoid the NYC schools, not too “grungy” or druggy or artsy, not too preppy. She seems so far to like: Wesleyan, Cal Berkeley, Vassar. We have to find some that are not as competitive but similarly friendly and eclectic.

Large or small? Private or public?

Oberlin, Kenyon & Skidmore come to mind quickly.

Centre College, Goucher, Macalester, Whitman.

This thread may be of some help:

Thank you.
Medium size school (like Wesleyan) seems best but small or large are o.k. Public or private both fine. Will look at the other thread. Thanks for the suggestions.
