ECNL girls soccer in CT / BS + Club Soccer

Is anyone familiar with the girls ECNL options in CT? It looks to be CFC or FC Stars are the options. Any thoughts on quality of clubs, coaches or general experiences with daughters playing at these clubs? I originally thought my daughter would have to give up club soccer if she goes to BS. I am hearing this is not always the case. We are from the West Coast and unfamiliar with the soccer scene in CT. Any help/wisdom/experience out there with CT club soccer and CFC or FC Stars in particular? Thank you.

I think you’ve got it right. What part of the state are you in?

@cinnamon1212 is very knowledgeable about BS, club soccer, ct, for boys. Might have some ideas (although boys and girls can be separate worlds.)

My knowledge of CT club soccer is getting dated! However, when my son was young, he played at FSA. The 2 main clubs in CT are CFC and FSA. Eight years ago (and probably today) CFC was the dominant club on the girls side (and FSA on the boys’).

I don’t know how one would combine a traditional ECNL team and boarding school. When my son was at boarding school he played for a club that only had boarding school players, and only went to tournaments, since weekly games and practices just are not feasible with boarding school. Unfortunately that club has moved away from this model and now has several residential academies.

I would ask coaches at the schools if playing club soccer is possible. If they say yes, I would ask to speak to a family that’s doing it, so you can learn the nitty gritty of how it works.

Thank you. Love the advice to ask coach for family doing it. Our family is on the girls side of the ECNL system. FWIW, it looks to be that Choate’s current girls’ coach has ties to CFC and many of the players there do BS and Club as I’m told their practice location is about 20 mins from campus. Seems logistically nice but I’m still trying to sort through how it’s possible (and/or at what cost) a student can balance and succeed with all that as a boarder. Per your advice, I’ll try to reach a current family via coach.
Thank you.

At the schools in our neck of the woods, the girls that played ECNL were usually day students. With that said, many were happy to schlep their (boarding) teammates to practice and games.

Agree that families doing this will be your best source of “truth” on what’s involved.
