Econ at lib arts vs undergrad b-school

Hi

I applied to some undergraduate business schools (wharton, stern, etc) and also to some top lib arts schools (williams, pomona, etc) and I was unsure of the benefits of studying econ at a lib arts school vs. going straight to an undergrad business school majoring in econ/finance. I hopefully plan on getting an MBA one day, and I want to be a CEO/CFO/COO-type. So…advantages/disadvantages of lib arts vs b-school. Thanks!

hey…wow how did u find me? Anyway…umm…I dont really have an answer to your question…but i did hear that the recruitment is a lot better at actual business schools…so just saying hi…umm cya tommorrow!!

If your intent is to work in a Fortune 500 type company right upon graduation, I would probably go for Wharton or Stern. But if you aren’t sure and would probably like to explore other possibilities (such as Law School or graduate school later on), I would probably recommend Williams or Pomona. Economics is just more versatile.

thanks for responding

how does lib arts prepare one better for graduate schools?

Broad based educations are considered a better foundation for graduate school. Business is considered to be a very focused degree…not broad at all.
