Hey
currently a junior in undergrad studies; econ major and business minor. I am interested in furthering my studies and want to go to grad school for masters in econ-- leaning towards the finance area. I was just wondering what schools have decent programs for me? Also, when would be an ideal time to start studying and take the GRE?
You will have to do the research yourself on what schools are appropriate for you. There are so many schools that offer a graduate program in economics. Focus on their outcomes in terms of further grad schools/employment/research connections.
Yes, and your interests. Some economics programs may, for example, focus on international economics or development economics while others focus more on finance or political economy…you have to find programs that have a focus area that you’re interested in.
Assuming that you are planning to complete applications between November 2018 and February 2019 to start an MA program in the fall of 2019, you could begin studying for the GRE in the mid-spring to early summer of this year (2018) with a goal of taking the GRE in the late summer to early fall of 2018. That gives you enough time to retake it if you need to.
OP wants to focus on finance, not economics, it seems–although initial post in this thread is a bit confusing = “want to go to grad school for masters in econ–leaning towards the finance area”.
University of Iowa Tippie is scrapping the regular fulltime MBA program & introducing a masters in finance.
