Econometrics Major?

I’ll be attending a small liberal arts college next fall. I took a look at their curriculum, and it seems like there’s a whole lot of useless classes on there - the mathematical classes seem useful, (such as Mathematical Economics and Econometrics,) but the rest of the courses seem more ideological than practical. I don’t want to study gender inequalities and the history of economics; I want to study the quantatative, not the qualitative.

I read that some colleges offer an Econometrics major. I’m considering switching out most of my theoretical economics courses for some hard math courses - essentially trading my Economics for Econometrics.

Is this a good idea?
