EC's ... Do what you love...?

You know how people say do activities related to what you love and show that on your essay? For example if one is really into astronomy, one could buy a telescope and observe the skies record the movement of the stars… something like that.

My question is, could that field of interest and what you love be intangible? In my case, I like giving speeches and debating and have luckily won several awards both within school and nationally almost annually ever since junior high. Could I write that field as what I love rather than the relatively orthodox way of having interest in a particular subject?

Why are you calling speech and debate “intangible”? It’s one of the oldest, most traditional extracurricular activities there are, and it’s still quite prestigious.

Are you simply asking if it’s OK to write that you love it? Yes. That’s ideal.

There doesn’t really have to be a material, tangible outcome of your activities for it to be worth anything. Rhetoric in speech & debate is among one of the most difficult things to truly master and if you have won recognition for it, then under all means say you love it.

Thanks! Now I know what to focus on:)
