So i decided to take the prep. course avenue rather than the igetc and have completed them with a 4.0 gpa. However, i have no ec’s and i am wondering how it will effect my transfer application to UCB as a physics major?

I’m in the same boat, although I’m applying for a different major. Obviously I have no way of knowing, but I think you’re safe. Why? Well, I downloaded a document on UCB transfer admissions that shows the admit rates by major, and physics is part of a group of majors that combined have a 49% admit rate! That’s about as high as it gets for Berkeley (my major’s admit rate is unusually high as well, so I guess we’re both lucky in that sense). Plus, I like to think a 4.0 overshadows weak EC’s.

By the way, you might think you have no EC’s, but you probably have something you could put on there. It doesn’t have to be like a school group or anything. Maybe you play an instrument, or have a cool hobby or something? From what I’ve heard, anything you do can be an ec. I’ve heard of people listing fantasy football (although I probably wouldn’t go that far). Anyway, best of luck!
