ECs

I read the “chance me” threads and people often describe their ECs as “weak.” Then they go on to list a zillion activities.

What’s up with that or do not all ECs count as “ECs?”

well i believe what they mean is they have nothing unique or significant in their exc. If you see their list, alot of them are things most applicants will have i.e. tutoring or being part of a club or volunteering some where. But doing something strong like being an eagle scout which takes years to get too or being an intern at a well known company or doing research for a lab, something that is exclusive to only a certain amount of ppl would make their exc deemed “strong”

what happened to passion? heh

I’ve always thought that the best EC’s to have are ones that you’ve committed yourself to for at least several years and that you have been able to obtain some sort of leadership position in.

Ever heard the phrase, “Jack of all trades, master of none” ? The people who list themselves as being members of twenty different EC’s don’t look as good, because they usually don’t demonstrate a passion toward any one activity in particular.
