In fall 2008, 49% of 88 applicants (43 students, I suppose?) were admitted ED. I remember I saw the number for 2007; there were about 110 applicants and also about 40 admits (significantly lower percentage). Again this year we saw about 40 ED1 admits (going by Facebook, which is, of course, guaranteed to be 100% accurate).

Minz, How do you know that they already sent them?

thefirstdude02: well, well… we’ll have to see. xD Although the percentage is higher, the numbers are really shocking… I really thought applying ED would help my chances. I heard they over-admitted last year. So I’m not sure how this year will do for applicants who are on the border… (like me xD)

aettsenoh: You have nothing to worry about, you should just wait for that big envelope But to answer your question, I talked to an ED 2 applicant in the Claremont area who got a letter on Saturday. So they must have sent it out either on Thursday or Friday (I thought Friday was a postal holiday but I guess not).

Thanks for the kind words. Still super nervous though. I am just very sick of waiting.

Me too, I can’t concentrate on anything else right now.

He’s right, they were sent.

I am the first ED 2 rejection on CC. Yay.

I live in Moreno Valley, which is about an hour away from Claremont, so I must have gotten the letter Saturday and not checked.

I think I was more nervous 20 mins ago than I was disappointed now. Looking at my stats alone, I didn’t stand a chance. Hopefully UCSD lets me in, but I have UCR as a backup already.

Good luck to the rest of you, and with me out, you all have a better chance.

stoopidmguy: Are you talking about me? I’m a girl T_T
What were your stats, if it’s okay to ask.

I don’t want to say too much right now, I still don’t know yet.

Sorry, she’s right.

3.3 gpa, 650 CR 660 W 800 M
790 M2 730 Bio 720 Chem

I took all honors and AP since freshman year, which isn’t much at my school.

College Bowl winner, Varsity Golf, MESA, Asia Club, Biology Club

Not much community service, I think about 20 hours.

I think the only thing was your GPA… well I don’t know about your essays.

Is your school competitive? It seems like SoCal schools are so hardcore. I live in the valley (not by Sac) so our schools are less competitive and offer less interesting things.

I procrastinated on my essays and didn’t get a second opinion, but I thought they were good =P

No, my school isn’t competitive at all. More worried about students passing the CAHSEE than going to college.

But I think I’m too much of a slacker for Mudd. I would have died there.

Eh, your GPA isn’t that much lower than mine. I don’t think there’s much point trying to wonder what it was that they didn’t like about your application… try to move on and hope other colleges like it better
I’m sorry that I won’t be seeing you next year, you seem like an interesting guy. (You are actually male, right?)

Yes, I am male.

And yes, I am very interesting.

I think I’m over it, I feel like I’m over it.

Does anyone wanna start a ED II Decision thread??

Maruhan2, you start it. I’m still playing the waiting game

I received my acceptance letter today about an hour ago. I’m an international student, currently in upstate NY. I didn’t expect the mail to come this early and thought it was gonna come around 18th-ish? But yeah, it was a pleasant surprise :)

hey!!
