43 days until Mudd sends out its ED 2 results! Tomorrow they’ll start reviewing our apps!

I have colored, circled, and marked all the "Feb 15"s on all five calendars (thanks to various charities)! I also downloaded a free countdown app from iTunes!

I’m really nervous and hope that applying ED 2 will give me more advantage than I think… anyway, eek! :3

I’m pretty positive you get a letter either way. And I’ve decided to focus my attention of February 18th. I think that’s reasonable since I live on the east coast, and if it arrives earlier it will be a pleasant surprise. I am so excited and nervous.

aettsenoh: Yeah, I am not sure whether they’ll send them before Feb 15. I live in CA so I’m just hoping it’ll arrive before Feb 20. But the waiting process is exciting. Hopefully not too many people applied ED 2 so that they can get them processed sooner! >.<

Mine took a full 5 days to come. Getting your hopes up and then getting let down… every day for, hm, 10 days straight (for me it started with being rejected by Caltech :P) is not a good idea… Just a… thought…

But good luck to everyone waiting for a decision!

Oh, btw, if you have already done an interview at the college, don’t submit a MYCOLLEGEi interview! Oops, but good thing I deleted it (after the admission staff told me not to submit one)!

I recently (and successfully) applied through ED 1, and had the good fortune to receive my decision letter on December 16th, one day after they sent it out. I live in San Diego, only 2 hours south of Harvey Mudd, so most of you probably can’t expect the same luck, but if any of you happen to live in Southern California, don’t be surprised if you find out sooner than everyone else. Minz may be in this situation, but if you live significantly north of Claremont, I can’t say either way how it will affect the timing of the letter.

Yeah, I applied ED1. I live in Michigan, but even so a couple New Englanders got their letters before me. Especially around the holiday season, US mail can be painfully slow (and unpredictably so). The rest of you shouldn’t have to wait quite as long, because it won’t be holiday season.

Not really the right thread, but not really the wrong one either?
I’m kind of curious whether numbers of ED1 applications were down due to the addition of ED2 this year and what kind of effect this is going to have on the RD pool. In past years, with ~40 ED acceptances and another ~600 RD admits Mudd got together a class of just under 200… this year we had I think 47 or 48 ED1 admits (going by facebook). So I think this could be very interesting just from a numerical analysis standpoint.

Nerdiness aside (briefly), good luck to all ED2 applicants and I hope to meet you at orientation, or before that on the hiking trip (assuming I do end up going)!

I don’t think it would really affect the ED1 pool because the percentage they accept through ED is considerably lower than other schools due to lack of ED applicants. They probably just sort them out solely through merit and not relative to other ED applicants. But I think it will take away some 50~100 spots from the RD pool.

I am freaking out, but I’m trying not to because my letter probably won’t be here for a while. There is no mail tomorrow because of Presidents Day so the letters probably won’t be sent until Tuesday. And then I live on the east coast so there’s all that time added on top.
