ED 2 or RD?

Is there any advantage from applying for Early Decision 2 over Regular Decision?

Yes- admission rate is higher ED 1 and 2 than RD- by quite a bit.

and first pick in dorms !

If you’re admitted ED, are you willing to forgo the chance to shop around? You won’t be able to compare aid packages if you’re seeking need-based aid, and if you’re a candidate for merit aid, they’re less likely to be generous with an ED applicant than an RD one.

Thanks everyone. My daughter decided to go RD. She thinks GW is her first choice but still wants to have options. She’ll be OK at Thurston but doesn’t really want to be on “the Vern.” On a different thread someone said if you get placed on the Vern, sometimes you can do a swap to get back to Foggy Bottom.

My son is a junior at GW. He applied RD and was placed on the Mt Vernon campus. He was not happy as one of the reasons he chose GW was to be in the city. He was able to get into Thurston at the last minute (student got off the Johns Hopkins wait list and created a vacancy). I will say it’s not easy getting a spot on Foggy Bottom if you’re housed in a dorm on the Vern.
