My personal essay is about overcoming an anxiety disorder in the past year, which plagued me from 2005, with an additional arts supplement of poetry that I wrote as catharsis.

There is no ED at Princeton. I’m not certain what you mean by “Have I lost it?” You have lost your mind if you think Princeton has ED (it abolished ED four years ago), but you haven’t lost any opportunities yet.

You are obviously a pretty strong academic candidate anywhere. Ask yourself whether voluntarily disclosing a significant psychiatric problem in your past makes you a stronger candidate. (Hint: If you are a writer of the caliber of Sylvia Plath or Susanna Kaysen, maybe. Otherwise, no.)

I recommend that you re-think your personal essay topic.

An Asian male with cadet military/police training should not disclose having an anxiety disorder.

You could be the nicest guy in the world, with beautifully written poetry, all they will think is Virginia Tech shooter.

^ lol oh dear. ok fine, i’ll change it

Princeton has no ED. Your profile is interesting but the Singaporean pool is crazily competitive. All the best!
