ED contract break-How much aid is called "sufficient"?

ED is binding. The only reason that may break the contract is “insufficient aid”.But,how much should the aid be to be called sufficient?Full ride/tution/half tution? For instance,i’m an international and my family can contribute max $5000.If i get only full tution waived,(although i need a bit more for room and board)can i break the contract? Thanks to everyone for kind perusal and reply.

If you don’t think that what the school has provided you is enough, you don’t have to attend. It pretty much runs on the honor code.

This is especially true if you’re an international student. In order to get your student visa, you will have to demonstrate that you can afford college, so you can’t do anything but back out.

It is solely the applicant’s/family’s decision if the aid is sufficient when considering an ED offer. If you can afford it you’ll want to go; if you can’t you say thanks but no thanks and apply elsewhere RD. It’s not a contract, but rather an honor-system agreement.

Thanks for reply :)
