ED: for an uber-reach or semi-reach?

Hi, I’m applying to both Wesleyan University and Carleton College, and am not sure which to do EDII.

I love both. I would be happy at either, perhaps slightly happier at Wesleyan, but not necessarily for the best reasons.

Wesleyan is an uber-reach. I have a 30 on the ACT, the average for my school is a 34. GPA is also a ridiculous step away, I won’t even get in to that. But I do have double legacy, and my older sister, who has lesser academic qualifications than I do, got waitlisted when she applied. If I were to apply ED it would certainly make it more likely I’d be accepted, but not that likely. Perhaps it would be the only way acceptance would be possible.

Carleton is a semi-reach. I feel like I actually might get accepted there, although it’s definitely uncertain, but ED would make it much more likely.

I will ultimately decide for myself by visiting both, but what are your thoughts?

Well, the season is over on this one. But my opinion is that getting into Carlton is everybit as difficult as getting into Wesleyan. My vote is for Wesleyan for likelihood of acceptance, but I would guess the student would be waitlisted as his sibling was.

“But my opinion is that getting into Carlton is everybit as difficult as getting into Wesleyan.”

Trust me, based on my school’s acceptance history, it certainly isn’t.

Also, my apologies, I forgot to write EDII instead of ED. Thank you for the comment!
