so i’m contemplating whether or not to apply as an edii candidate or just as a regular decision one. i want to major in media culture & communication at steinhardt. honestly, the only thing holding me back from applying edii (because nyu is my first choice) is that i want my mid-year senior year grades reviewed. i had a really rough time junior year (which is explained in my counselor rec & my essay a little bit) and so my GPA dropped. it was a 4.0 freshmen year, 3.9 sophomore and just 3.3(eeks) junior year (for a 3.7 overall). However, my senior year I am doing much better and my overall GPA sould be 3.75 by the time my mid-year transcript comes out. Because my schedule this year is still rigorous I want to show the admissions people that I can still maintain an A GPA even with rigorous classes. However, my school will be unable to send my mid-year grades until the end of January, and there is a good chance my mid-year grades will be unable to be reviewed if I’m applying as an EDII candidate. So basically my question is whether or not I’ll be safer applying as an EDII candidate or a Regular Decision one (edii most likely won’t have mid-year grades reviewed, whereas Reg. decision will)?
