I originally wanted to apply ED with an Arts Supplement, because I thought it would improve my chances. I was also considering auditioning in person (I play violin).

Now I’m not sure for two reasons:

I don’t think my October 6 SAT II scores would make it on time if I applied ED. I think I can say I that I’m taking the tests and which tests I am taking, but would it still hurt my chances if the admission officers did not have my SAT II scores? I do have SAT 1 scores…

I’m not sure how refined my application would be if I applied ED on October 15. I just started the Personal Statement a short while ago, and I have only started brainstorming ideas for the supplement questions. Finally, for an audition or recording, I would need to practice a lot. I am willing to work very hard to get into Stanford, but am I being unrealistic?

please? please? Getting answers ASAP would be awesome. I’m starting to feel like it wouldn’t be in my best interest to do ED, but I really would like some feedback on my questions.

Why would you apply on October 15? Application is not due until November 1 for EA.

Also, Stanford lists that the last acceptable SAT date for EA is October. I assume that applies to SAT II tests as well. If you’re really worried about it, I think you can do rush shipping on your scores. Even otherwise, it might be fine if you’re scores get there a bit after the rest of the application. That’s something I’d specifically ask an admissions officer or something at Stanford though.

Overall, I’d say go for it if you think you’re ready by when the EA deadline comes around. You should still be able to send your SAT II scores, so I wouldn’t worry much about them. If you’re really worried though I’d ask an admissions officer about it.

On it’s website, Stanford has Nov. 1 as the ED deadline, but Oct, 15 as the ED w/ Arts Supplement deadline. I’m pretty sure that’s the whole application and not the supplement, but it’s kind of confusing.

^Oh, I see. I thought they had the same deadline. In that case I’d definitely try to talk to an admissions officer or something. Rushing your scores they might get there by the 15th, but even if they don’t it still might be okay. As long as you think you can finish the rest of the application by then, then I would definitely talk to an admissions officer to see if its fine for the SAT II scores to come a bit later.

You could always just tell your admissions officer that you took/will be taking the October SAT 2s and to expect them. Oh, and Stanford doesn’t have ED - they have restrictive EA.
