Honestly, you should try to re-take all of your testing. Your CR and Writing are at least 100 points too low for you go get in with a 2.9 gpa. Most people who get into NYU have at least a 3.5 GPA, that seems to be the threshold. Your Chem and Math scores don’t look so great either. To get in with a 2.9 gpa, you should aim for SATs over 2100 and get the Chem and Math into the 700s. Keep practicing.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I’m going to slightly disagree with the above poster.

Only 1% of NYU students have a GPA lower than 3.0 and to get in, let it be assumed that they had some major hooks. E.g. URM + outstanding SAT scores.

Your SAT is subpar for NYU. CAS would look for a minimum 1900, preferably a 2000. However, given your GPA, anything short of a 2,200 would be unimpressive.

With your SAT being so low, your SAT II scores not being highly impressive, and your GPA being way below average (3.5-3.7), I just don’t see you as able to get into NYU.

I was trying to keep a positive spin on it, but NYU2013 is probably right. However, if you do want to get in, and have any sort of chance, you need to retake the SATI and your SATIIs.

There is always transfer possibilities or taking year off and working on your SATs and ECs. Go out and do something that no other applicant has done. If you are dead set on NYU, that would be my recommendation.

Wait, you’re an asian female with less than a 3.0 GPA and less than 1900 SAT?

Sorry hun, there’s no way you’re going to get into even a mid tier college with these stats. And it doesn’t help the fact that you’re asian. Have fun in community college, and then transfer to your state university if you even want a chance at a job that pays more than $30 grand a year.
