Edit information about a college or university?

Hi All, Is there any way to edit information on this website if it is out of date concerning a college/university? I’m asking this because some CC members wanted to know how schools’ diversity initiatives have been changing student body ethnic compositions in recent years. And I noticed the collegeconfidential (CC) stats say that UC, San Diego is 50% caucasian, but nope, not the case. I teach at UCSD and the student body ethnic/racial class make-up has changed in the last 5 years. I just want to make it clear that we have been working on reducing the ‘caucasian’ and increasing the ‘people of color’… Caucasion students are now only 21% of the student body (not 50%): http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:ds1OLimzVlMJ:studentresearch.ucsd.edu/_files/stats-data/enroll/ugethnic.pdf+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us.
I think many students want ethnic diversity in their college/university experience, and also a balance with which they’re comfortable.

No, but you can post more current data.

“Working on reducing the Caucasian”? Interesting way to put it.

This is the 2015 data which is the most recent data available. And my apologies, ‘anxiousenior1’ for being too tactless on ethnic/racial shifting demographics and policy decisions. Micropolitics of race are important, but my Q was mostly just to ask about how to present recent and relevant data for students & parents. But since you mention reduction (-15% caucasians at UCSD from 2010 to 2015), its helpful to see the picture against the ethnic/racial backdrop of the state of California since this is a state school. The biggest challenge at UCSD is perhaps to do their share to educate the large Mexican-American constituency of CA. Demographic data for California: Caucasian 42.3%; Af-Amer 7.2%; Asian 11%; Mex-Amer 30.6%; Latino 7%; Filip 3.9%; Am-Ind 1.9%; Pac-Is .7%; Multi 4.8% (from Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_California). Also, imbalanced increases are a challenge too: Asian students at UCSD increased 61% (from 37 to 46% of student body) from 2010 to 2015.

First of all…I would refer students to the Common Data Set on the college website. I personally think that is far more a reliable source than Wikipedia.

Where does CC say this statistic?

Is a school like UCSD that is close to an Asian majority really diverse? UCSD still has a tiny number of Hispanics and African Americans.

Hi, Just an update for everyone… campus news is that UCSD must reduce its enrollment of foreign students from 22% to 20%. Also, thanks Thumper1 for the Common Data Set suggestion. I did use that in the 1st thread query but I checked the updated one which came out recently. Here are the numbers:
Undergraduates # %
Foreign 6062; 22.80
Hispanic/Latino 3,879; 14.59
Black 510; 1.92
White/Non-Hispanic 5,033; 18.93
Amer. Indian 102; 0.38
Asian/Non-Hispanic 9,003; 33.86
Native Hawaiian 47; 0.18
Unknown 1,954 7.35
Total 26,590 100.00

Also, Out-of-State students = 5%
