How do USC’s education abroad opportunities compare to those of the UC’s? Specifically, I will be in the business and engineering school at USC.

I’m not sure how they compare to the UCs but my experience has been amazing.
As a business major when you go abroad you can fulfill your entire senior concentration as opposed to merely getting elective credit. So going abroad won’t set you back on completing your major requirements.
Also, Sean O’Connell who runs the business school’s international programs (from semester exchanges to spring breaks) is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. And since going abroad can be more expensive, you cost of attendance will be adjusted so you can obtain more grants/loans.
Check out the Marshall programs here:

The university offers study abroad programs. There are 40 programs in 27 countries. They are in the usual London and Paris locations, but also in places such as: Caicos Islands, Yungaburra, Australia, Dunedin, NZ, Kumasi, Ghana and St. Petersburg, Russia.

In addition to these study opportunities, not all listed above, there is the Global Scholars Program which you should investigate.

@ Sunnyday:
Which abroad programs did you experience?

I went to NUS (National University of Singapore) through the business school.
I believe engineering students can go to NUS as well, NTU (another one in Singapore) and HKUST (in Hong Kong).

And keep in mind that for the university programs you’ll only get elective credit but they have some great locations.

Was it over the summer or did you do it one semester at USC?

It was during the spring semester. There semester is similar to ours, from Jan-May but since I was done with finals by April 19, I had lots of travel time after as well as during the weekends and spring break.
Basically took 5 classes (each class met once a week for 3 hours).
The long classes were a bit difficult to sit through but I only had classes Mon, Tues, and Wed. Yay for 4 day weekends :)
