East Coast: Ivies, MIT, tons of well-known universities, lots more well-known LACs…
Oh, and snow. I prefer Christmas without palm trees, thank you very much.

I’m an East Coast prep school kid who wants nothing more than to go out west for college and hell, for life. I love LA, Santa Barbara, and San Diego.

With that said, the education on the East Coast, in terms of sheer volume of elite schools, is far far FAR superior to the West Coast’s. It’s not a fair competition; plenty schools out here are older than most cities out there.

As an East Coast resident, let me make state a few things:

Snow is quite possibly the most overrated thing ever. Sure, it may look nice, but shoveling it is another story…

West Coast weather >>>>> East Coast weather. The supposed “variety” in seasons isn’t really that great. For example, it was 13 degrees in NYC today. When I was shivering to death, you can bet that I was longing for summer. Personally, the cold winters here tend to affect my state of thinking.

Granted I get into a decent university in CA, I’d be content

I’m on the east coast technically, but in Florida, so no snow. LOL. I have to say though that the northeast is overrated overall and I prefer the midwest. (Ok, so Illinois in particular.) Of course, however, the northeast appears to have the better schools are far as statistics show.
